Gorgeous Port Douglas hotels for a picture-perfect stay in Far North Queensland

Port Douglas is one of Queensland's hidden gems. No matter who you’re travelling with, we have you covered with the best hotels in Port Douglas.

Queensland has a lot to be proud of: sunnier weather than the rest of Australia—beaches that stretch for miles and, let’s not forget, the Big Pineapple. But we have to stay one of the state’s hidden gems is the tropical beachside town of Port Douglas. Whether you’re travelling with the tots in tow, or it’s just you and bae, we have you covered with some of Port Douglas’ best accommodation to suit any kind of traveller.

A tropical getaway in Port Douglas

1/4

Nothing quite evokes a tropical hotel stay more than an experience at Mantra PortSea. The white-washed buildings are dotted across a lush garden, with a lagoon-style communal swimming pool snaking throughout. Rooms are light and airy, featuring modern furnishings and private balconies overlooking the garden.

Start your morning with a dip in the lap pool, or otherwise chill out in the slightly calmer communal swimming pool. Here you can appreciate a swim-up bar which serves snacks, light meals, and of course a tempting range of cocktails. If you fancy unleashing your inner child, you’ll be pleased to know Mantra PortSea also features its very own waterslide!

A Port Douglas hotel close to Four Mile Beach

1/4

One of the crowning jewels of Port Douglas is picturesque Four Mile Beach, and fortunately, Peppers Beach Club & Spa is just a stone’s throw away from it. This luxurious resort offers an open-air design, with rooms featuring sliding wooden doors that welcome the tropical garden outside. Our pick is the Deluxe Spa Suite. It’s located on the ground floor and opens directly onto the sand that floats into the resort’s main pool.

Continental and cooked breakfasts are served each morning in the hotel restaurant. If relaxation is key, we suggest heading to Peppers’ coveted Exclusive Spa, which has a range of treatments that use products from the LI’TZA range.

A tropical oasis outside of town

1/4

With a name like Paradise Links, it’s only fitting that this hotel is nestled in a tropical garden of palms. Although the resort is located five kilometres out of central Port Douglas, it offers a wealth of onsite facilities to keep you entertained.

Dip into one of the two heated swimming pools, then partake in a round of tennis or 18 holes of golf. If you’d rather explore the beach, bikes can also be hired directly from the hotel.

Hotel rooms and villas are available, but if the whole family is coming along for the holiday, we suggest choosing Villa Paradise. This four-bedroom, two-storey villa offers everything you need for the perfect weekend away. Think a private swimming pool, a fully-equipped kitchen, and separate lounge and dining areas.

A Port Douglas hotel for active types

1/4

We know Port Douglas is normally associated with beaches and relaxation, but if you’d rather stay active during your holiday, Pullman Port Douglas Sea Temple & Spa is certain to keep you energised. Start your morning at the fitness centre, then play a round of golf on the hotel’s 18-hole course.

But it’s not just the hotel’s sports facilities which are the standout. Rooms are decked out in a modern style, offering Queen beds, colourful artworks, and plenty of natural light. Some even come with a private Jacuzzi! Come evening, you can dig into modern Australian cuisine at the in-house restaurant, AQUA. Seafood is the hero ingredient here and is paired with creative international flavours.

A stylish stay in the Far North gem

1/4

Oaks Resort Port Douglas is the definition of cool, offering guests a relaxed and stylish stay in the tropical Far North. Think brightly-patterned cushions and pineapple-printed lamp shades.

The highlight though is arguably the on-site bar, Estilo, which is popular with both guests and locals alike. It features a hand-crafted stone bar and serves tapas using ingredients sourced from the Atherton Tablelands. If you’re around on a Tuesday, we suggest popping in for Taco Tuesday, where you can appreciate $3 tacos alongside Tecate beer.
