Dine and be entertained at this luxury hotel in Melbourne

1/4

As part of the Crown Melbourne resort in Southbank, you’ll be spoilt for entertainment options when staying at Crown Metropol Melbourne.  The iconic complex is home to Australia’s largest casino and more cafes, bars and restaurants than your stomach can handle (that’s around 70, in case you’re wondering!).

If you can’t decide between the array of 14 fine dining restaurants, we recommend trying the award-winning Dinner by Heston Blumenthal, where the creative British chef has turned Aussie favourites into unique dishes with a twist. Love them or hate them, the hardest part will be deciding between Vegemite or Cherry Ripes, or rather, the Ice Cream with Vegemite dessert or the Cherry Isle Bar.

To continue debating your dinner, be sure to stop by the 28 Skybar Lounge, the highest and most exclusive cocktail bar in Melbourne. Offering sweeping views of the city, it’s the perfect spot to unwind with a drink or two before heading off to bed. The spacious rooms at the Crown Metropol provide contemporary luxury accommodation, complete with designer furniture and specially commissioned artwork. Just what you need for creating your own urban sanctuary in amongst all the buzz.

A historic luxury hotel experience

1/4

Historic luxury doesn’t get much better than at The Hotel Windsor. Dating from 1883, when Melbourne was at the height of the gold rush, The Hotel Windsor is Australia’s only surviving grand hotel from the Victorian era. As a Melbourne icon located close to Parliament House, The Hotel Windsor has played a prominent role in history, as the site where the Constitution of Australia was drafted. As well as a convenient choice for politicians, a stay in this historic hotel will see you follow in the famous footsteps of the likes of Katherine Hepburn, Muhammed Ali and King George VI.

From the moment you step inside you will be treated to Victorian old-world charm but with all the luxury amenities and modern comforts, you’d expect from a five-star hotel. The high ceiling, elegantly furnished rooms come with marble bathrooms and classic furniture, in keeping with the Victorian heritage.

And of course, no historical tradition is complete without afternoon tea! A Melbourne experience in itself, Afternoon Tea at The Hotel Windsor is served daily in the signature tea room, although those lucky enough to visit on selected weekends may be able to enjoy afternoon tea in the Grand Ballroom. For any cricket fans out there, make sure you enjoy a drink at The Cricketer’s Bar, which houses a collection of cricketing memorabilia from Melbourne Cricket Club.

1/4

The second hotel at the Crown Melbourne Entertainment complex, Crown Towers rises high above Southbank. This lavish five-star hotel offers the ultimate in luxury accommodation, with exceptional attention to detail. Whilst the rooms are all regularly reviewed as being fabulous, it’s the leisure facilities that really make the Crown Towers stand out. With a fully equipped gym and two tennis courts located on the rooftop garden, you can be sure to work up a sweat in style. However, if you want to really indulge yourself, head to the spa. Hotel guests have access to The Crown Spa Melbourne, one of the most opulent spas in the country.

Take a dip in the 25-metre heated pool, one of Australia’s largest and most luxurious indoor pools, or choose from a range of therapeutic treatments for total relaxation and rejuvenation. The Crown Spa is one of a small handful of international resorts to offer La Prairie treatments, an exclusive beauty treatment program from Switzerland, offering the ultimate, luxury pampering for your body.

A luxury Melbourne hotel icon

1/4

The Grand Hyatt sure lives up to its name. Grand in architecture, location and facilities, this shiny gold hotel is a Melbourne icon. Rising 33 floors above Melbourne’s prestigious Collins Street, the Grand Hyatt Melbourne is surrounded by high fashion stores and designer boutiques, alongside fine dining restaurants and heritage buildings. It’s fitting, then, that you have to step between two giant eagle sculptures to enter the shimmering-gold, marble-filled reception foyer.

Grand in size, the 550 spacious rooms and suites all offer floor-to-ceiling views of iconic Melbourne sights but it’s the Diplomatic Suite that is a real stand-out. This one-bedroom suite features an open living/dining area with kitchenette and a separate office. Sure, you might expect all that from a one-bedroom suite, but wait until you walk into the marble bathroom. With two walk-in showers and a sunken spa tub overlooking the Yarra River, it’s a perfect place to unwind from the city stresses. There will be no excuse not to leave feeling refreshed!

Your fitness regime doesn’t have to suffer whilst your away either. The Grand Hyatt Melbourne’s facilities include an outdoor tennis court, a half-court basketball court and golf practice cages. Enjoy 24-hour access to the Health and Fitness centre, with a five-star gym, heated indoor swimming pool, Jacuzzi, spa, sauna, steam room and plunge pool.
