Winter getaways around Australia

If you want to warm up, spend a weekend soothing your muscles with a visit to Victoria’s sumptuous hot springs or simply a city break at a spa hotel. Or maybe you want a real taste of winter, head up to the Snowy Mountains or Falls Creek to practice your ski or snowboarding skills.

Or maybe, you’d prefer to explore the great outdoors and get in touch with nature. The lush greenery of New South Wales’ Blue Mountains are divine for hiking; or better yet, hop in the car and explore all the natural beauty that Tasmania has to offer with a two-week road trip.

Winter sun getaways

You’ll find cocktails, sun loungers and SPF aplenty with a winter sun getaway in Asia or the Pacific. The kids can enjoy their winter school holidays at a family-friendly hotel in Phuket or Bali. Or, if you prefer a couple’s getaway, splurge on an all-inclusive escape to Fiji or Mexico.

Maybe you don’t have a week to kill on a beach in Asia but are still craving a long weekend in the sun. Thanks to our large land girt by sea, we some great destinations to beat the frostbite. With its Great Barrier Reef and Daintree Rainforest, Queensland will make you forget about the miserable weather down south—tempted to book a stay in Port Douglas or Cairns. Better yet, head over to the sunniest part of the country, Broome, for a stroll down Cable Beach or start a road trip down the coast of Western Australia.
